FreeOCR.AI Desktop v0.4.0: Clearer, Safer Batch Workflows

FreeOCR.AI Desktop v0.4.0 is a focused usability release. It makes the moment before, during, and after a batch easier to follow—so you can spend less time managing files and more time getting usable results.

A Clearer Place to Start

The Desktop home now separates PDF tools from image tools. Your available workflows—PDF OCR, image OCR, table extraction, and structured extraction—are easier to scan and open.

We have also made the next PDF table workflow visible as Coming soon, rather than making it look available before it is ready.

More Control Before a Batch Starts

Building a batch should not mean committing to it. Before processing begins, you can now clear the selected PDF or image list in one click and start over with the right files.

Completed items, failed items, and output locations stay compact in the list. When a result is ready, use its folder link to show it in your file manager.

Image Batches Move Faster and Stay in View

Image OCR, table extraction, and structured extraction can now process up to 10 images at a time. Your remaining credits refresh as each item finishes, instead of waiting until the whole batch ends.

For longer image lists, Desktop automatically brings the active file into view. You can keep an eye on the work in progress without repeatedly hunting through the queue.

PDF Results No Longer Replace Earlier Work

Re-running a PDF no longer overwrites an existing output with the same name. Desktop creates a new file instead—for example, report (2).docx—so your earlier result remains available.

It is a small change, but an important one when you are comparing OCR passes, trying a different output format, or revisiting a document later.
