An Important Update on Free Usage Limits

To all FreeOCR.AI users — thank you sincerely for your continued support. This is a message we wish we never had to write, and we want to be completely transparent with you about what is changing and why.

The Difficult Reality We Face

FreeOCR.AI was built with a simple promise: provide powerful, accurate OCR for free. That mission has not changed. But sustaining it has become increasingly difficult.

Over the past months, we have been dealing with two compounding pressures:

Unstable Ad Revenue

Advertising income has become increasingly unreliable, fluctuating month to month and making it very hard to plan and budget for the infrastructure needed to keep the service running smoothly.

Rising Model Costs

The AI models that power our high-accuracy OCR are not cheap. As usage has grown, so have our costs — and we are currently operating very close to the break-even point.

Our Promise: No Compromise on Quality

We considered many options. The one we refused to accept was reducing the quality of our OCR processing. Switching to cheaper, lower-quality models would be a betrayal of the trust you have placed in us.

FreeOCR.AI's accuracy — especially on complex layouts, formulas, tables, and handwriting — is what sets it apart. We are not willing to sacrifice that, even under financial pressure.

Same AI models, same accuracy
No degraded processing quality
No watermarks on output

What Is Changing

Starting today, free users can process up to 10 images per day. This limit resets every 24 hours.

Why 10 images?

We looked at our usage data carefully. The vast majority of our users process around 5 images per day on average. A limit of 10 images per day means most users will experience absolutely no change in their day-to-day workflow.

We chose this number specifically because we wanted the limit to be a safety net for sustainability — not a barrier that affects regular users.

Our Sincere Apology

We are deeply sorry for any inconvenience this change may cause. We know that some of you rely on FreeOCR.AI as a core part of your daily workflow, and we do not take this decision lightly.

This was not a decision made overnight. We exhausted many other options before arriving here. And while we believe this is the right path to keep the service alive and high-quality, we understand it may feel frustrating.

We are genuinely grateful for every single user who has trusted FreeOCR.AI. Your support — whether by sharing the tool, leaving kind words, or simply using it — is what has kept us going. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We Want to Hear from You

If you have thoughts, concerns, or suggestions — please tell us. We read every message. Your feedback genuinely shapes how we evolve FreeOCR.AI and helps us make better decisions for the community.
